Privacy policy
ScrubZero checks your text and files on your Mac. This page lists everything the app and this website collect, and why.
Effective October 27, 2026
What stays on your Mac
None of these are sent to us or to anyone else by ScrubZero:
- Text you copy, paste or dictate
- Files you scrub, and the redacted copies
- The list that maps placeholders like [NAME_1] back to real values. It is kept in memory and cleared when you quit or clear the session.
- Your settings, including words to always hide and words to never hide
On Macs with Apple Intelligence, ScrubZero can ask Apple's on-device model to take a second look at names. That model runs on your Mac. You can turn it off in Settings.
What you choose to paste into an AI app is then handled by that app under its own privacy policy.
What the app sends
The app makes two kinds of network requests.
License check
To confirm your license, the app sends:
- Your license key
- A random install ID, created when the app is first set up. It is not your name, your Mac's serial number or your Apple ID.
- The app version
We use this to check that the key is valid and count how many Macs use it. Like any web request, it also carries your IP address, which our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes to deliver the request. We do not build a profile from it.
Update check
The app asks GitHub, where new versions are published, whether a newer version exists. GitHub receives a standard web request, including your IP address, under GitHub's privacy statement.
The app does not include analytics, crash reporting or advertising code.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details, and we never see or store them. We receive your name, email address, country and what you bought, so we can send your license key and handle support and refunds. Stripe's handling of your data is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts, and loads no third-party resources. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses to serve the pages.
If you email support, we keep the conversation to help you. Please do not send patient information.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep license and purchase records for as long as your license exists and as long as tax law requires. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email us. Deleting your license record means the key stops working.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
